The oval relief is a finished bozzetto made in relation to the large commission made by Louis XVI to Pierre Julien for the Laiterie at Rambouillet. It is a fragment from one of the large rectangular marble reliefs which decorated the main room with the grotto. It shows the two dancing figures from the divine scene in which Apollo guards the flock of Admetos.
